Blood Angels Chainsword

Some projects challenge us to think beyond appearance and focus just as much on how a piece feels and functions in the hands of its owner. Our Blood Angels Chainsword for Ryan was one of those projects.

Ryan came to us with a very specific vision for his Warhammer-inspired chainsword. While the prop needed to capture the imposing and detailed appearance of a Blood Angels weapon, it also had to be practical for movement and training. He required the chainsword to be constructed primarily from foam while meeting specific weight and balance requirements, making the internal structure just as important as the exterior finish.

To achieve this, we incorporated a metal structure within the foam build to provide the necessary support, stability, and balance without compromising the overall look of the prop. Every element had to be carefully considered, from the proportions and construction to the finishing details that would give the chainsword its distinctive, battle-ready appearance.

For our team, the most rewarding part came after the build was completed. Knowing that Ryan continues to use and enjoy the chainsword almost daily is a testament to the purpose behind the project. It wasn’t simply a prop designed to look good on display. It was built to be held, moved with, and enjoyed as part of his passion for the Warhammer universe.​
